"THE DIG"- An archaeological dig team make an
unexpected discovery while attempting to learn what led an ancient
civilization to perish from an environmental disaster.
Designing
and building a cave/archaeological dig site from scratch was a blast. I
started working with the director months before the financing was
secured so we could have time to craft the design to be as close to what
he had in his head as possible. I built the set to have two fly-away
walls so the DP would have plenty of shooting options. Because the walls
had a cave treatment on them it was important that they were moved
gently, but with a limited shooting schedule it was also important that
they could be moved quickly. That's why I put the two walls on wheels.
